Waffles recipe
Ingredients
Waffle dough
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 8 tablespoons of oil
- a pinch of salt
To sprinkle
- A few spoons of powdered sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
Preparing the waffle dough
Separate the egg yolks from the whites and make sure the whites are in a clean, dry bowl (free from any traces of fat, which will help you whip them into stiff peaks).
Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and beat with a mixer until stiff peaks form. (Fresh eggs will make this process much easier!).
Then add the yolks to the whipped egg whites and beat well with a mixer.
Next, add the flour mixed with baking powder, milk and oil. Gently mix using a mixer at the lowest speed or a spatula, so as not to destroy the fluffiness, mix from the bottom to the top. The dough should be smooth.
Heat the waffle iron well and lightly grease the surface of the plates using a brush or paper towel soaked in oil.
Pour about 5 tablespoons of batter into the center of the bottom plate of the waffle maker and close the device. Bake until the waffles are golden and crispy (baking time depends on the waffle maker model, usually about 4-6 minutes).
Place the finished waffles on a wire rack to keep them crispy (do not stack them on top of each other as they will get soft).
If the waffles are too soft after taking them out of the waffle iron, it means that the waffle iron was not heated enough or the batter was too thin.
Serving waffles
