Greek Salad - Recipe with Feta Cheese and Tomatoes

Traditional greek salad is one of the simplest and most aromatic dishes of Mediterranean cuisine. Its unique taste depends on the quality of the ingredients. The best greek salad will be made with ripe tomatoes, crispy cucumbers, aromatic red onion and feta cheese. In the summer, it is worth using vegetables straight from the garden, while in the winter you can create a delicious version of this salad by choosing products from a good organic store.
Recipe for greek salad
Greek salad ingredients
- 4 ripe tomatoes
- 2 fresh cucumbers
- 1 red onion
- 200 g feta cheese
- 3 tablespoons black olives (e.g. Kalamata)
- 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/4 lemon
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
Wash the tomatoes and cut them into larger pieces. Peel the cucumber and cut them into half-slices or thicker pieces. Peel the red onion and cut them into thin rings.
Cut the feta cheese into cubes or leave it in a larger block, as is traditionally served in Greece. Drain the olives and add them whole.
On a large platter, combine tomatoes, cucumbers, and onion. Add black olives and crumbled feta cheese.
Mix everything thoroughly and sprinkle the salad with lemon juice, drizzle generously with olive oil and sprinkle with dried oregano.
The salad is best served immediately after preparation, so that the vegetables remain crunchy and the feta retains its structure. It tastes great with crispy bread or grissini sticks.
