Recipe for a marble cake
Ingredients
Ingredients for the cake
- 300 g wheat flour
- 225 g butter
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 heaped teaspoon baking powder
- 120 ml milk
- 120 g dark chocolate
- 1 tablespoon teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of rum oil
- a pinch of salt
Glaze ingredients
- 45 g milk chocolate
- 45 g dark chocolate
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
Preparation of the dough
Warm the ingredients to room temperature. Melt the chocolate in a water bath and set aside to cool.
Cream the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add the vanilla and mix. Sift the flour with the baking powder and salt directly into the mixture, pour in the milk and mix briefly with a spatula until the ingredients are combined.
Divide the dough into two parts. Add the cooled chocolate and rum oil to one and mix gently.
Grease the cake tin with butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Alternately spread the light and chocolate mass, creating layers. Finally, make zigzags in the dough with a fork.
Bake at 160°C for 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. Remove from the oven and leave to cool before serving.
Preparing the icing
Break the milk and dark chocolate into smaller pieces so they melt more easily and quickly. Put the butter in a saucepan and heat over low heat until it begins to melt. Then add the broken pieces of both types of chocolate.
Mix the chocolate and butter until the ingredients are completely dissolved and combined, creating a smooth, uniform mass. It is important not to boil the mass. When the icing is ready, cool it slightly to thicken. Then pour it over the cooled cake.
