Caesar Chicken Salad Recipe

Thanks to the variety of textures and the harmonious combination of flavors, the Caesar salad appeals to both lovers of light dishes and those who appreciate more substantial meals. Juicy chicken provides protein, croutons add crunch, and parmesan emphasizes the expressive flavor of the entire composition. However, the key element that distinguishes the Caesar salad is the sauce - creamy, intense and full of flavor. Interestingly, the Caesar salad with chicken does not come from Italy, as you might think, but from Mexico. Its creator was the Italian chef Caesar Cardini, who ran a restaurant in Tijuana. The story goes that one day, due to shortages in the kitchen, Cardini composed a salad from available ingredients, creating an iconic dish that won the hearts of gourmets around the world. You can learn how to make a Caesar salad from the original recipe, which you will find below.
Chicken Caesar Salad Recipe
Ingredients
Caesar salad ingredients
- 1 large head of romaine lettuce
- 1 chicken breast
- 0.5 baguettes for toast
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons grated parmesan
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
Creamy mayonnaise sauce
- 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 4 tablespoons of 18% cream or thick Greek yogurt
- 1 clove of garlic (grated or pressed through a press)
- 2 teaspoons of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Cut the baguette into small cubes and drizzle with olive oil. Toast in a preheated oven for about 5 minutes, until the croutons are golden and crispy. Set aside to cool.
Wash and dry the chicken breast with a paper towel. Cut into small cubes and season with salt, pepper, and sweet paprika. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan, fry the chicken until golden and juicy inside. After frying, set aside to cool for a while.
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Add pressed garlic and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
Wash, dry and tear romaine lettuce into larger pieces. Arrange lettuce in separate serving bowls, add chicken pieces. Pour cream-mayonnaise sauce over, sprinkle grated parmesan on top. Place croutons on top. Caesar salad is best served immediately after preparation, so that the croutons remain crispy and the lettuce remains fresh. It can be served on its own as a light dinner or as an addition to other dishes.
