Cobb salad recipe
Ingredients
Cobb salad ingredients
- 1 grilled chicken fillet
- 2 eggs
- 1 large, ripe avocado
- 150 g blue cheese (e.g. gorgonzola or roquefort)
- 150 g bacon
- 1 pack of mixed salad (arugula, corn salad, iceberg lettuce, etc.)
- 1 bunch of chives
- 200 g cherry tomatoes
- 0.5 lemons
Sauce ingredients
- 4 tablespoons of natural yogurt
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon chopped dill
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Clean the fillet of membranes and beat lightly with a mallet, sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Heat a grill pan or regular pan with a little olive oil. Fry the chicken for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden and completely cooked through. After removing from the pan, set aside for a few minutes, then cut into thin strips or cubes.
Cut the bacon into strips. Fry in a dry pan over medium heat until crisp and golden. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess fat.
Place the eggs in a pot of cold water and bring to a boil. Cook until hard-boiled, about 9 minutes. Then drain, rinse with cold water and peel. Cut into quarters.
Wash and halve the cherry tomatoes. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Cut into cubes and sprinkle with lemon. Finely chop the chives. Crumble or cut the blue cheese into small pieces.
In a bowl, combine natural yogurt with mayonnaise and mustard. Add pressed garlic, finely chopped dill and parsley. Mix thoroughly and season with salt and pepper to taste.
On a large platter or in a wide bowl, spread the salad mix. On top, in separate rows or sections, arrange pieces of grilled chicken, crispy bacon, hard-boiled eggs, avocado, cherry tomatoes and blue cheese, and roughly chopped chives. Serve the Cobb salad dressing separately in a small bowl or jug so everyone can add their own flavor.
Cobb salad goes great with crusty bread, such as garlic baguette or buttered toast. It can also be served as a side dish for grilled dishes or as a light, stand-alone dinner. It is perfect for parties and family gatherings, because it can be easily adapted to the preferences of guests. This classic American dish delights with a combination of different textures and flavors, from crispy bacon, to creamy avocado, to intense blue cheese.
